Production conditions
Nutrition
All production in the fields is done by the use of slow release fertilizers supplied at the time of potting. This system reduces the amount of used fertilizer with about 50 % compared to traditional fertilization. Therefore it is a very environmental production method.
Growing media
To conserve the sphagnum reserves the nursery Toftly use between 30 and 40 % wood chips in all the used growing media. This also gives a more stable growing media in relation to the proportion of air and water in the growing media. At the same time the biological activity around the plants roots are increased.
Miljø
Environment: The nursery Toftly does an ongoing effort to reduce the use
of fertilizers and chemicals.
To a large extent biological pest management
is used. Both in controlling fungi and pests.
